Day 20 - October 30, 2019

As I sat eating breakfast this morning I saw a coatimundi walking through the woods about 20 yards away.  Of course I didn’t have a camera and it wasn’t close enough to get a good picture so you’ll have to google it.

I also find the junipers in the campgrounds interesting.  They grow straight and tall and the bark resembles a alligator’s hide so the name of the tree is -  alligator juniper.  Who would have guessed!  There are also large clumps of mistletoe growing in many of the trees.

As we left Chiricahua, we continued south toward Douglas and the Mexican border.  There is more farm land in this area, crops of different types, cotton, corn, orchards - I don’t recognize, and vineyards.  More new and old houses that have been deserted, some of which could have been on the reservation land we crossed earlier.  About 20 miles before we got to Douglas there was a border patrol check point for north bound traffic. Arriving at the junction with highway 80, Douglas and the border station was to the east and we turned west and drove along the US border towards Bisbee.  Obviously the land on both sides of the border just looks the same.

We spent most of the afternoon in Bisbee, another very old mining town.  It’s identified as a retired hippie community and that is probably a accurate description.  The town is located between hills and holes.  We toured the mining museum that was very well presented and then ate lunch and walked the streets.

We have decided to head back south to a RV 'resort' in Naco, AZ.

Doesn’t this look like a great place to stay!!!  And we can walk to the Mexican border.
We are stopped for a couple nights and quite content.
